Yimeng Mountain invites visitors on Red culture journey

Yimeng Mountain's Guimeng and Yunmeng scenic areas are offering free admission to visitors nationwide from July 1 to 19, turning summer travel into what local commentators call a "faith appointment" with the Yimeng Spirit.

The campaign connects tourism benefits with Red culture. Visitors can watch immersive live performances, hear stories of Yimeng women who took care of soldiers and their children during the war, pray for the country from the top of Guimeng, and write postcards to the future at a nearby post office.

These activities make revolutionary history more vivid and experiential, rather than leaving it only in museums or on display boards.

The effort comes as Red tourism becomes a major growth engine for Linyi.

In 2025, the city received more than 56 million Red tourism visits and generated about 54.8 billion yuan ($8.07 billion) in tourism revenue, up 12 percent and 9.6 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Red tourism accounted for more than half of Linyi's total tourist visits and tourism revenue last year.

The Yimeng Spirit is also moving beyond scenic areas. Linyi has launched Red study programs at key sites including Yimeng Revolutionary Memorial Hall and Red Sister's Hometown Tourist Area. In Yishui county, local intangible cultural heritage markets have used paper-cutting and other crafts to bring such stories closer to young people.

The free-admission campaign opens a door to both mountain scenery and spiritual heritage.
