Yimeng handmade products from Linyi drew attention at a cultural and creative event held from May 15 to 24 at Chaoyang Park in Beijing, showcasing the energy of local intangible cultural heritage and regional specialties.

The event brought together institutions from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, emphasizing regional culture and China's cultural and creative industries.

In the Shandong exhibition area, Linyi's "Mengshan Mama" traditional homespun cloth series and handmade cultural products were notable for their craftsmanship and local appeal.

Zheng Guangyun, a fifth-generation inheritor of the provincial-level traditional homespun cloth technique in Shandong, said the products are made by mothers in Yimeng Mountain communities, allowing them to earn income while caring for their families at home.

One popular item was the handmade tiger-head hat. Zheng said even the tiger's eyes require seven layers of cloth, each sewn by hand to create a vivid three-dimensional effect. Homespun cloth mats were also popular for their breathable, sweat-absorbing, and cool-but-not-cold texture.

Inga Thordardottir, a counselor at the Embassy of Iceland in China, experienced a handmade tiger sachet from the "Mengshan Mama" series at the event and praised the diversity and appeal of Chinese culture.

Zheng has taken her heritage products to more than 20 countries and said she will continue expanding Yimeng ICH's audience, using handmade products to support rural cultural tourism.
