Jining's GDP breaks 500b yuan mark in 2021

Jining in East China's Shandong province reported a record high GDP of nearly 507 billion yuan ($79.75 billion) in 2021, an increase of 8.5 percent compared with the previous year, according to local authorities.

The added value of the first, second and tertiary industries increased by 7.6 percent, 8.2 percent and 8.8 percent, respectively, to 58.38 billion yuan, 203.47 billion yuan and 245.16 billion yuan.

The total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery reached 111.62 billion yuan, up 9.1 percent from that in 2020, and the year-round grain output was 4.87 million tons, 40,300 tons more than the previous year.

The added value of industrial companies above designated size increased by 13.1 percent, 3.5 percentage points higher than the provincial average. That of the service sector rose 8.8 percent and contributed to 52.1 percent of the city's economic growth.

The city's fixed asset investment jumped 12.4 percent compared with that in 2020, 6.4 percentage points higher than that the provincial average.

The port throughput rose 8.1 percent to 46 million tons. Of that, the waterway transportation accounted for 33.55 million tons, up 12.1 percent.

Cargo imports and exports surged 24.6 percent, totaling 67.87 billion yuan. 

The retail sales of consumer goods reached nearly 246 billion yuan, up 15.6 percent and 0.3 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

The per capita disposable income of local residents also saw a stable increase of 8.8 percent, reaching 31,845 yuan.

Government expenditures for improving people's living standards stood at 57.6 billion yuan, accounting for 79.2 percent of the total government expenditures.
