Jining's GDP in the first three quarters of 2021 totaled 369.19 billion yuan ($58.04 billion), up 9.9 percent year-on-year. The added value of the tertiary industry over the same period stood at 178.54 billion yuan and increased by 11 percent year-on-year, the highest among the three major types of industries.
The agricultural production in Jining sustained its momentum in the first three quarters of the year, with the gross output value hitting 75.65 billion yuan.
The added value of industries above designated size from January to September 2021 increased by 13.5 percent year-on-year, with an annual growth rate of 8.1 percent compared to 2019.
The services sector generated 27.25 billion yuan in revenue from January to August 2021, with a year-on-year growth of 28.1 percent.
The fixed asset investment in the first three quarters of 2021 increased by 11.3 percent year-on-year. The growth rate of such investment in the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries was 10.7 percent, 10 percent, and 12.2 percent.
The city's imports and exports in 2021 realized a year-on-year growth of 24.6 percent to 67.87 billion yuan.
The total retail sales of consumer goods in the city during the first three quarters of 2021 reached 184.37 billion yuan, up 18.6 percent year-on-year.
During the same period, the city's general public budget expenditure was 56.64 billion yuan, an 5.4 percent increase compared to 2020.
Resource
Jining is an important resource city with exploited coal reserves of 25 billion tons and an annual coal output of 80 million tons, accounting for half of Shandong's total.
Jining ranks second nationally in terms of rare earth reserves, and its annual power generation capacity stands at 120 million kilowatts with annual output of 55 billion kW hours.
Weishan Lake is the largest freshwater lake in North China covering 1,260 square kilometer.
Jining is also an important national agricultural base for oil, grain, cotton and characteristic agricultural products.
