On Aug 13, the Li Ronghai Art Museum in Heze, Shandong province, welcomed a major cultural event: the opening of a joint exhibition featuring the works of Ge Maosen and Ge Huining. Running through Sept 23, the show brings together 103 paintings that bridge classical tradition and contemporary expression.

At 85, Ge Maosen stands as a central figure of the modern Jinling School of painting. For decades, he has pursued the philosophy that "brush and ink must follow the times", grounding his work in classical technique while continuously exploring new modes of ink expression.

This exhibition marks a significant first: it is the debut of Ge Maosen's major works in Shandong province. The event represents more than a display of individual mastery — it is a meeting of two cultural currents. The refined, lyrical sensibility of Jiangnan ink painting encounters the weight and vitality of Shandong's cultural heritage. Jinling brushwork meets the earth richness of the peony homeland, creating a dialogue between northern and southern traditions that enriches both.

The exhibition also features the ink paintings of Ge Huining, whose work centers on the Taihu stone, reconstructing images of Jiangnan through an intimate, microscopic lens.
