Dongying once again ranked first in Shandong province for the number of companies included in the 2026 China Top 500 Private Enterprises list, with 16 local firms making the cut.
The list was unveiled by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce at a conference held in Tianjin on Sept 22.
The result highlights the strength and resilience of Dongying's private economy. Private businesses account for more than 98 percent of the city's market entities. The city has continued to improve its business environment through streamlined approvals, lower institutional costs and more responsive government services.
In Guangrao county, for example, reforms now allow companies to obtain construction approvals for projects on leased land, significantly reducing both land-use costs and processing time. Other measures have shortened project approval procedures, simplified cross-provincial business relocation, introduced license-expiry reminders and reduced unnecessary administrative inspections.
These reforms are designed to give businesses greater certainty, lower operating burdens and faster access to government services, creating a more supportive environment for private-sector growth.
The strong presence of Dongying companies on the national list reflects both the competitiveness of its enterprises and the city's sustained efforts to foster a dynamic private economy.
