Dongying in Shandong province has joined the ranks of cities with more than 10 million kilowatts of renewable energy capacity. As of the end of June, its installed renewable capacity had reached 10.98 million kW, up 10 percent year-on-year to account for 69.39 percent of the city's total power capacity.

Solar power leads the energy mix with 7.62 million kW, followed by 3.16 million kW of wind power and 207,800 kW of biomass power. Renewable projects now extend across industrial parks, rural rooftops, saline-alkali land and offshore areas.
