Chinese, South Korean youth bond through traditional culture in Dongying

A cultural exchange event for Chinese and South Korean youth was held in Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone in Dongying, East China's Shandong province, on July 30.

Participants practiced writing the Chinese character fu, meaning good fortune, and discovered the beauty and expressive power of Chinese calligraphy. They also learned traditional paper-cutting techniques, transforming sheets of red paper into vibrant window decorations.

During the interactive session, the young participants exchanged handmade gifts, including calligraphy bookmarks, paper-cut artworks and origami creations. Each gift reflected their respect for and curiosity about each other's culture.

"Learning calligraphy in China was fascinating and truly unforgettable," said one South Korean student.

The event offered international youth the change to experience China's rich traditional culture firsthand while supporting the development zone's efforts to strengthen international cultural and tourism cooperation and attract more overseas visitors.

The development zone will continue organizing diverse cultural exchange activities, building bridges through culture and fostering lasting friendships among young people from China and around the world.
