Kerstin Kaehler, head of Qingdao German Enterprise Centre, came to China as a teen exchange student from Hamburg in 1990 and returned after graduating from university 27 years ago. She supports German businesses locally and believes genuine daily communication is the key to solid China-Germany ties, finding a welcoming home in laid-back Qingdao.
