Qingdao summit enlarges Shandong's circle of friends

The just-concluded third Qingdao Multinationals Summit, which was held from June 19 to 21, has boosted the cooperation between Shandong and multinationals to a new level, injected new vitality into regional high-quality development and expanded Shandong's circle of friends.

According to the summit organizers, 476 Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders attended the summit offline this year, which were 58 more than last year. A total of 113 multinationals, including Sumitomo and Heraeus, have attended the summit three times in a row.

Representatives from 29 institutions and well-known business associations, including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, International Enterprise Singapore, and the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, attended the summit. Political leaders from Japan, Italy and Hungary attended the event via online channels.

The summit has appointed 29 executives from Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders from 13 countries and regions as economic consultants for the Shandong provincial government.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman and chief executive officer of DP World, was one of 29 people invited to serve as economic advisors for the Shandong provincial government.

Bin Sulayem was very happy to serve as an economic consultant for Shandong, and he looks forward to the prospect of furthering cooperation with Shandong.

DP World is an Emirati multinational logistics company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It specializes in cargo logistics, port terminal operations, maritime services and free trade zones.

In 2005, the company started to expand its business in China, and now it has five terminals and logistics projects in Qingdao, Yantai, Shanghai, Yiwu and Hong Kong.

DP World became a shareholder of Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal Co in 2006. In 2014, it signed an agreement with Qingdao Port on strengthening strategic port cooperation. In 2016, the company and Qingdao Port signed a memorandum of understanding on deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
