Shandong to expand business ties with Germany

The "2021 Dialogue with Shandong - Germany · Shandong Industrial Cooperation and Exchange" event will kick off on Oct 28 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province, via both online and offline channels, according to officials at a news conference held recently by the Information Office of Shandong Provincial People's Government.

Jointly hosted by the Shandong Provincial People's Government, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the event will include a theme seminar, four industrial exchange activities, a group visit of German enterprises, as well as field investigation and project matchmaking activities.

The theme seminar will take place on Oct 28, with the main venue in Jinan and sub-venues in 16 cities across Shandong. The seminar will include an in-depth discussion of the economic ties between China and Germany. It will also explore industrial platform construction and innovative development measures, introduce Shandong's industrial development strategy and key cooperation projects, as well as share cooperation experiences and facilitate cooperation between the two sides.

More than 20,000 people will attend the seminar in its online and offline venues, including government officials, as well as representatives from companies, chambers of commerce, and industry organizations.

Representatives of more than 50 German enterprises, including over 30 Fortune 500 companies like Siemens, Volkswagen, and Festo, will visit Shandong to conduct business negotiations with local government and companies.

According to customs statistics, Shandong's imports and exports to Germany reached 49.93 billion yuan ($7.8 billion) in the first three quarters of the year, up 18.3 percent year-on-year, accounting for 23.9 percent of Shandong's trade volume with the European Union.
