Jinan in East China's Shandong province is making a major push in urban and industrial development with 270 projects worth a total of 304.7 billion yuan ($44.2 billion) in 2020, local media reported on Jan 20.

Among the projects, 199 focus on industry and boast an aggregate annual investment of 174 billion yuan. They cover fields such as big data, information technology, high-end equipment, intelligent manufacturing, bio-pharmaceuticals, and advanced materials.

The remaining 71 projects, worth a total of 130.7 billion yuan, focus on urban construction; specifically, 48 of the projects include the construction of major infrastructure and 23 focus on improving quality of life.

Several projects have started to win public attention, such as the Zhengzhou-Jinan high-speed railway, Jinan-Laiwu high-speed railway, Xiaoqing River resume sailing project, Jinan metro lines R2, 4 and 6, second phase construction of Jinan metro line 3, and the tram project connecting East Railway Station and Jiyang district.

The city also listed 100 major preparatory projects, investing a total of 242.9 billion yuan.
