After-dark consumer spending in Jinan went on the rise during the seven-day National Day holiday, in the wake of the city's continued support for growth of its nighttime economy through innovative polices.

The municipal commercial bureau launched a "night economy consumption map" ahead of the holiday, providing guidance to tourists from across the world.

It highlighted a total of 99 hot spots for enjoying local snacks, cultural tourism and nocturnal entertainment, including 10 large-scale areas, 15 shopping malls and 15 cultural recreation sites.

The revenue of 21 key retailers and restaurants monitored by the bureau hit nearly 2 billion yuan ($289 million) during the holiday, up 8.2 percent compared with the same period last year, according to the bureau.

The "Impression · Jinan Spring World" commercial block as well as cultural performances and special snacks in the Huaiyin district have become another highlight of Jinan's nighttime economy. Many stores extended their opening hours to 1 or 2 am.

According to statistics, in July and August of this year the flow of visitors to the "Impression · Jinan Spring World" commercial block increased by 80 percent month-on-month, and nighttime turnover accounted for 80 percent of the whole day's.

Tourist insiders said that night boat tours along the city moat and a multimedia light show in Daming Lake have now become must-sees for visitors.
